ICT Exam by MCC

by admin

The Myanmar Computer Company has launched the country’s first computer-based ICT exam to test basic knowledge in the field, a senior official from the company said.

The company’s chief operating officer, U Nyein Oo, said the exam will help those who are learning about ICT through self-study to get a certificate as proof of their knowledge without the need to attend a training course.

“This exam will allow those pursuing skill or career development to have their knowledge level tested accurately and without bias,” he said.

MCC’s 46 franchise centres nationwide will act as exam centres where interested candidates can set a time to take the test by providing a two-week advanced notice.

U Nyein Oo said the exam was based on the company’s basic ICT training course and included six subjects – computer technology, internet and email, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe PageMaker – in accordance with international-standard skill requirements.

The exam lasts for two hours and each subject is worth 20 points. Examinees are informed of their grade immediately. Those who get full marks earn a grade of ‘Excellence’, while those who get 18 above in all subjects earning ‘Distinction’ and 16 and above earning ‘Certified’. Those who receive marks below 16 in any subject will fail the exam.

The exam fee is K5000, but those who fail can take it again for only K1000, said U Nyein Oo.

Reference materials to help prepare for the exam will be distributed to MCC’s franchise centres, and those who have already registered for the exam can sit for any number of practice tests, he said.

U Nyein Oo said the exam will be updated to keep up with changes in technology, adding that there was the potential to introduce an online version of the test that could be taken by anyone with internet access. - Khin Hninn Phyu
